In Review, Pt. 1: An Extra Mile
Some time ago, I was reading through some scripted reels and vlogs I never posted. I was so anxious over the last 5 years. Like- damn! How is it that this was my norm? You mean to tell me that other folks just walk around calm? You mean, with all the anxiousness, excessive cortisol, overstimulation, and depression packages they were handing out, some folk ain’t get none? How? I’m really sensitive. And as a result, I have to tend more carefully to my emotional wellbeing. I have had to learn how to implement better spiritual hygiene. It’s not an exact science, but I am learning to work through it. Sometimes, it doesn’t feel fair, but dammit I’m here!
I admit that I think, “what if I had a primary sense of calm?” more often than not. But when I breathe and sit through the tension, stretch, plant my face in the sunshine, plan out my herbal tinctures for the day, research and pivot- I am confronted with my superpowers. Real superpowers like self care, self-awareness, and the willingness to swim through my own darkness time and time again. It makes the journey a little more worthy. It reminds me that I am worthy. Instills a lot more might. I can do anything and journey through this terrain and it doesn’t take anything away from me. I’m free to dream, love, and embrace this human situation with all my might so that my spirit can continue to grow tall as a tree. Oh Theo, it’s ok that you have to do a little extra. This human experience is a wild and undoing thing, but you are worth the extra curation.
May you have all you need
as you continue to give yourself a little extra care.
